Amazon Looking to Create Its Own Checking Account Service: Report

Amazon already has a lot of different entities under its name. Notwithstanding, according to a new study past The Wall Street Periodical, the company is looking to partner with top banks in an attempt to build a "checking-account-like" production for its customers.

Amazon is reportedly in talks with fiscal institutions such as JPMorgan Chase, etc. to help launch this product for its younger customers and those without a depository financial institution account. The sources familiar with the program said that the product is still in its early stages of development, and wouldn't involve Amazon condign a bank.

A checking account is a deposit account held at a financial institution that allows withdrawals and deposits.

Although this new venture wouldn't involve Amazon becoming a depository financial institution, it would nonetheless add even so another entity to Amazon'south expanding portfolio. For those of y'all who don't know, Amazon'south existing portfolio includes its Whole Foods grocery stores, Kindle (ebook reader), music and video streaming service, and its digital assistant, Alexa.

Why build a checking-account-like production?

Although this speculation doesn't have whatever weight to it, it appears that this move could help the company reduce the fees it pays to financial firms. WSJ also noted that it could provide some valuable data on customers' income and spending habits.

Furthermore, a potential partnership with J.P. Morgan would as well represent the second major understanding which involves Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and JP Morgan'southward master Jamie Dimon.
